The Route
The Dodd1e’5 Gr4nd S7am Team route will see them visit all 6 Nations Stadiums, kicking off at Murrayfield on 28th February, stopping at Dublin, Cardiff, Twickenham, and Paris before the final whistle on 8 March in Rome. As plans develop, we will share more details below, with an Itinerary for each day.
Day 9
Livorno to Rome
On the last day (well, almost), the team leave Livorno and heads towards Rome. They will arrive at the Stadio Olimpico in the evening to compete in this monumental challenge. Over the nine days since leaving Murrayfield, they will have cycled over 3000km and climbed over 23,500m (which is more than 2.5 x Mount Everest). If you follow the team on social media, you will get info on when they expect to arrive, and it would be amazing for those in Rome to come and welcome them.
The next day, the team will join the other 19 teams as they cycle to Piazza Navona, arriving at 17:00 (Come and join them for a wee drink or two; hydration is important for them after all).
Today, we will see the team and stop at the following locations:
Civitavecchia RFC
Stadio Olimpico Roma
Day 8
Monaco to Livorno
The penultimate day will see the team leave Monaco and cycle along the coast and into Italy. After the challenges of the Alps (or fun as some of the team describe it), today is a much-welcomed break with longer, flatter sections, which are very welcomed. Fun in the Alps, well, that’s how a few of the team describe this day; I'm not sure the rest of us have the same feeling about today. By the end of the day, the team will have climbed over 3,600m, that’s over two and a half times the height of Ben Nevis, all in one day.
The end of the day will be special as the team will cycle en mass into Monaco, where they will be greeted by His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco.
The team will be stopping at the following locations:
