Introducing Our Glenn Curley - Support Team
Who are you (name, age, where you come from)
I’m Glenn Curley, just turned the big 60, (blimey, didn’t see that coming!), from Hednesford, Staffordshire.
What is your background?
My working background is industrial roofing and I’m Technical & Sales Director at BRC Industrial Roofing (Midlands) Ltd, or otherwise known as ‘Dog’s-Body!
Why did you want to get involved in this challenge?
My good friend Paul Moore brought the challenge to my attention over a couple of beers, (of course!), and it ignited in me a spark.
How long have you been cycling?
I’ve been cycling on-and-off since the age of 5. I haven’t really made the time to cycle for a couple of years, hence the eagerness to join in a supporting role. Although, my trusty Ridley road bike is patiently waiting for me to kick the pedals again. And, I will.
What do you think will be the most challenging aspect of the trip?
Getting there, wherever there is at the time, on-time and ensuring the media team and the riders are properly supported.
How important is it that we keep Doddie's memory alive?
Unless people push to keep memories alive, ground will be lost and this battle isn’t going away..
How important is it that we continue to raise funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation?
Without the money, the research can’t be completed. It is vital that we push to raise the money needed to win the battle over MND.
What has been the most inspirational aspect of this challenge so far for you?
I have to say, the TEAM, ALL OF THE TEAM. Exceptional individuals who have energy, conviction and passion to drive this cause forward. Chapeau, to all!
What, ultimately, do you want to come out of this?
When this epic trip is concluded, the battle to beat MND will go-on. I hope that the contribution the team makes in this battle will elevate awareness and the profile of this condition so that the wider public fully get behind the cause.
